The location at Warmoesstraat 149 and 151 was once home to two merchant houses. At the end of the 19th century, the gentlemen Ellerman & Harms of the printing company bearing their name had the buildings demolished to construct their impressive headquarters in the architectural style of that era. The entrance, with its large wooden door, granito staircases, and vaulted ceiling, still reflects this history. The building features a basement and three floors. Numbers 149–151 are internally connected to Warmoesstraat 153.
Downtown Offices is inspired by the urban philosophy of Jane Jacobs (1916–2006), which emphasizes that the right mix of buildings, users, and facilities determines the strength of a neighborhood. With this in mind, they aim to contribute to a versatile city center where working, meeting, and leisure regularly intersect. Downtown Offices strives for sustainable management. Local suppliers, excellent accessibility by public transport or bicycle, FSC‑certified paper, and 100% green energy from Pure Energie all contribute to this goal.

About the area
The Warmoesstraat is one of the oldest and most iconic streets in Amsterdam. Running parallel to the Damrak, it connects the corner of Prins Hendrikkade and Zeedijk with Dam Square.
The history of the Warmoesstraat dates back to the 13th century. Originally, it formed the eastern quay of the River Amstel, before the city expanded and the Damrak was constructed. In the 16th and 17th centuries, it was Amsterdam’s premier shopping street, where wealthy merchants lived in grand townhouses and traded in spices and luxury goods. Many of today’s façades still conceal medieval timber structures—some of the oldest in the city.
Today, the Warmoesstraat has a highly diverse and eclectic character. It is home to specialty coffee bars, lively cafés and restaurants, as well as quirky boutiques, art platform W139, and the location of the city’s oldest (and most notorious) police station. In short: a fascinating blend of history, art, and modern activity in the oldest part of Amsterdam.
Warmoesstraat 155 is located in the heart of Amsterdam’s city center, right in the vibrant historic core. The street runs parallel to the Damrak, stretching from the corner of Prins Hendrikkade and Zeedijk all the way to Dam Square. Amsterdam Central Station is within walking distance (approximately 8 to 10 minutes). Several tram and bus lines also stop nearby, offering quick and convenient connections.
